More Advanced Roadway Materials Such as Luminescent Paint & Markers - Jake - 04-19-2023
Luminescent paint has been around since the 1980's.
I feel like Luminescent paint should have been integrated into the public roadway system.
For one, it would look really cool, but more importantly, it would be safer. Lanes would be more visible and so would signs with the paint.
There are all kinds of luminescent products out there and even systems that can store solar or heat energy for glowing after dark without having to be illuminated by a light source or pressure activated first. Pressure activated luminance would be cool too, such as on lanes to show that a vehicle has changed lanes, with perhaps piezo activated reflectors.
On stop lines and crosswalks, paint could be used that glows permanently.
Also, things like passive nano-RFID chips integrated in to paint and pavement could be used for short range geolocation, with pressure activated emitters able to transmit data on weight loads and their positions...for being able to help calculate direction and speed for prediction software. There was a guy I saw on an old video about suppressed technology who had made a paint that turned sunlight into electricity in the early 90's, he was shut down by the power companies, but I'm sure his patent is still out there somewhere and could be adapted and improved for lumi-paint and asphalt.
